clock tower building 钟楼
Built in 1925, 6 years after the establishment of Hwa Chong Institution (then known as The Chinese High School), the clock tower building, standing at over 30 metres tall, is a sight to behold. Previously used for surveillance during the Second World War by both the British and Japanese, this clock tower has seen more than its fair share of horror and bloodshed. To mark its significance, the clock tower was made a national monument on the 19th of March, 1999. Today, it houses 8 classrooms, the high school's Kong Chian Library, the auditorium and the Oei Tiong Ham Memorial Hall. Access to the topmost floor is prohibited.
